Clown Heads, Window Dressings and Some Musings
CLOWNS!!
I arose this morning and wandered out to the garden to bask in the sun.
To my surprise there, right between the basil and peppermint, was a crowd of clown heads all chattering away,
telling foolish knock-knock jokes that only clowns would find amusing.
“Dear, me!” I cried and the little chatter boxes turned their heads.
We all sat in silence for a few painful minutes. (I mean, what do you say to clown heads in the garden?)
“KNOCK KNOCK!” one cried
“Who’s there?” I replied
“ASHE!”
“Ashe who?”
“BLESS YOU!”
Then the clowns burst into laughter, tears streaming down their little cheeks.
In fear of bad jokes killing my plants I debated plucking them but decided that they were causing little harm and let them be…
for the time being.
I had to buy these clown heads for my cake decorating class and had this idea in my head from the moment I picked them up. When I looked out the window today and saw the wonderful light flooding into my backyard I knew it was the perfect chance to do it.
This “shoot” made me realize a few things:
+ I LOVE my zoom lens! I’ve never really had a chance to sit down and use it until this summer (I got it for Christmas from my dad) and I have fallen in love. The quality of the images is so much better than what my kit lens provides. It makes me want more lenses.
+ I love the light that this little patch of the garden catches. Some of my favorite shots have been taken in this area of the backyard. There and the porch. I will be thoroughly upset if I move out and loose the amazing light that I have here.
+ How much I will enjoy this photography class coming up. I am so excited. All last semester and all this summer I’ve been trying to steal peeks at the arts and fine arts buildings. They’re going to be amazing.

Also, I decorated my windows yesterday.
Used some scarves and moved my string lights to go over them.
I am so happy with the result.
I love contradictions. Like the bright pink flamingos against the skulls.
I want to implement that through out my house (once I have one of my own).
Which reminds me! The other day I was with Nich (who finally got his jeep fixed) at Borders, flipping through some design books and I finally realized the style that I want;
A modern style house with a vintage/woodsey theme.
For instance, a loft with white walls and big sleek windows filled with dark, wooden furniture with vintage prints and acorn/deer/squirrel art on the walls (I know it sounds absurd in words but in my head it is magnificent!).
Again, the contradiction I love so much.
It’s a theme that reoccurs a lot in my style/tastes.
I got my books for British Lit today! They are beautiful! I can’t wait. Though I’m not going to get Miss. Davis again this semester. Ah, well. As long as the professor is competent I will be happy. AND because it’s not a flex course we will get to read more than we did in World Lit!
Yeah, I’m totally not a nerd.
Ah, well. That seems to be all my little brain can handle.
Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
Aardvark
Aardvark who?
Aardvark a million miles for one of your smiles.
